With the declining stigmatization of tattoos, people are becoming more and more brave and bold with their Tattoo Designs. And what place could be more bold for showing off your style and personality than a Chest Tattoo?

Positioned directly at the front, Chest Tattoos give the impression that you’re wearing your banner into war. They show off the things that are important to you and leave a lasting impression on all those who gaze upon them.

So, if you’re feeling fearless, join us as we take you through some of the best Chest Tattoo Designs the internet has to offer.

Do Chest Tattoos Hurt

The chest is a more moderately painful place to get inked. While the pectoral muscle may not feel as painful until you get near the nipple line, places closer to bones such as the sternum or near the top of the ribcage, are going to feel particularly uncomfortable.

The chest area has a high concentration of nerve endings, which can make tattooing there more sensitive compared to other parts of the body. The skin on the chest is relatively thin and not as tough as the skin on other frequently tattooed areas like the arms or legs.

Chest Tattoo Designs

Angel Tattoo On Chest

Bat Tattoo

Moving on from Angel Tattoos to something with a little darker aesthetic. Despite their dark appearance and connection to Halloween, Bat Tattoos can symbolize themes of freedom, guardianship at night, intuition, and rebirth. Also, in Chinese culture, the word for bat, “fu,” is a homophone for “good fortune” or “happiness.”

Fu Dog Chest Tattoo

Fu Dog Chest Tattoo

Fu Dogs, Stone Lions, or Shishi are powerful symbols of protection in Asian cultures. These beings originated in China and are often used as architectural ornaments to ward off evil spirits from places such as temples and other significant places.

The Fu Dogs almost always come in pairs, with a male holding a ball, which represents the material elements, and a female with a cub, which represents the element of spirit.

Fine-Line Chest Tattoo

Fine-Line Chest Tattoo

Fine-line tattoos are characterized by their very thin, clean lines that create intricate designs without the use of shading or color. Despite the minimalistic approach, these tattoos often display high levels of detail. This makes them ideal for designs that require intricate patterns, such as faces, botanicals, or geometric shapes.

Swallow Chest Tattoo

Swallow Chest Tattoo

Swallow Tattoos are historically sailor tattoos used to mark a sailor’s journey of 5,000 nautical miles.

They were also viewed as symbols that land was near, either marking that land was near or the end of their journey was at hand as they sailed home, cementing the swallow as a symbol of homecoming and of a safe journey. Swallows are also a species of bird that mates for life, symbolizing themes of loyalty, faithfulness, and true love.

Moving into Greek Mythology now, this Mythological Tattoo is of Zeus. Zeus is the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky, lightning, thunder, law, order, and justice.

As the ruler of the gods and the wielder of thunderbolts, a Zeus tattoo might symbolize power, authority, and dominance or represent someone’s leadership qualities or their control over their own life and destiny.

Lord Of The Rings Chest Tattoo

Lord Of The Rings Chest Tattoo

One of my favorites on this list, this amazing Celtic/Viking Tattoo piece depicts the standoff between the then ‘Gandalf the Grey’ and the Balrog in the Mines of Moria.

What some people may not know is that the now famous “You shall not pass” line from Gandalf never actually appeared in Tolkien’s source material; instead, it was ‘You cannot pass,’ which he, albeit, did say once during their face-off in the films.
